They usually don’t mean to cause damage and don’t understand how dangerous fire can be.įire lighting can also be a sign that a child is worried or upset about something, and they may need extra help from other services. Younger children tend to light fires in and around their homes. There are a range of reasons why children might light fires: Information for Parents Why do children light fires? Help your child to feel good about themselves for being fire safe.Help your child to take responsibility for their actions.Teach your child about the consequences of fire, and the difference between good fires and bad fires.Teach you and your child how to make the home and family safe from fire.Help you to manage your child’s fire lighting behaviour. The JFLIP firefighters will make several visits to your home. It is a family-based program, so ideally everybody who lives in the house will be involved. The program is delivered in your home by trained JFLIP firefighters. Most of the children who go through the program stop their unsafe fire behaviour. Research shows a success rate of over 90%.JFLIP has provided assistance to over 500 children and their families. The staff involved in the program will let you know whether JFLIP is appropriate for your family, and may suggest other services that can help. JFLIP may not be appropriate for all children, especially those with more complex behaviours. The program is designed for primary school-aged children and their families. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who is playing with fire, you can contact JFLIP at for advice or assistance. If it would be too much work to have multiple types of lighters within itself, just have it store like 10 000 lighters and make it usable to all types of logs.įire burns the same way on all types of logs, and if normal logs can be lighted with this gnomish firelighters there's no reason why other types of logs cannot. The Juvenile Fire Lighter Intervention Program (JFLIP) is a free, confidential, Tasmanian-wide service to help families deal with child fire lighting behaviour. You could possibly extract and deposit the lighters with this interface as well, like in the rune pouch. Now I understand that it would be somehow difficult to have it contain all types of firelighters, since you can't just use it on logs and light it because you'd have to pick what lighters to use, but it could have a right-click option to pop-up a interface (or whatever) that has boxes to tick what kind of firelighter to use. The firelighter should also have larger capacity of firelighters, as 1000 is just too little. This is a no-brainer, and should have been implemented all ready. The way the gnomish firelighter should work is to make it possible to light all types of logs. AND NO ONE DOES THAT IT'S A FUCKING WASTE OF TIME The firelighter has 0 uses other than lighting fancy fires around g.e. I think this shouldn't even be stated as it is sooooo obvious. Gnomish Firelighter is an item that is a substitute for a tinderbox, except for that it can light only regular logs, and can store firelighters within itself, all though only 1 type of firelighter may be stored in the firelighter at a time, and only 1000 firelighters can be stored at one time.
